HAZWOPER, 24-hour Initial Training
OSHA's emergency response standard 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) requires a minimum of 24 hours of initial training for hazardous materials technicians, specialists and on-scene incident commanders. This three-day course meets the initial training requirements of 1910.120(q). Topics include: implementation of emergency response plans and incident command systems, basic chemical and toxicological terminology and behavior, classification and identification of unknown materials, hazard and risk assessment techniques, uses of field survey instruments and equipment, selection and use of specialized chemical personal protective equipment, response tactics, decontamination of personnel and equipment.
